Why internal communication consulting?

We are living in an era where work is more demanding, high-tech and global. The demands of the modern workforce are not only affecting employees but organisations too. According to Gallup's research on employee engagement, less than one-third of people feel engaged at work while over 50% report feeling "checked out" or "disengaged". This lack of engagement has a profound impact on businesses with low levels of employee engagement costing companies between $450 billion - $550 billion every year.

There is no one solution for this problem but it starts with feedback which can be both formal and informal. By encouraging your team members to give you feedback through surveys you will have data that everyone can use to improve their own performance as well as the business.

The goal isn't to encourage everyone to give you compliments but rather the opposite. If people are afraid of telling you what they think then it will be difficult for them to speak up when there is an urgent problem that needs your attention or even more subtle issues like a person who doesn't feel welcome in their workgroup because of something someone said during a meeting two months ago. This type of feedback does not have any lasting value if it's only given at annual performance reviews so encouraging regular honest discussion with your team members can go a long way towards improving engagement levels across the organisation which ultimately leads to business success!
